What does Messias purchase mean for AC Milan’s transfer plans

AC Milan have decided to make the transfer of Junior Messias permanent from Crotone for around 7 million euros.

Last summer, AC Milan followed a number of targets for the right winger role but the Rossoneri were unable to sign any of them. In the last hours of the mercato Milan decided to sign Junior Messias from Crotone. The Brazilian winger arrived on loan with the option to make his transfer permanent for around €8 million.

The 30-year-old right winger had a difficult start at San Siro due to physical problems. However, slowly, Junior Messias managed to impose himself in Stefano Pioli’s starting eleven displacing Alexis Saelemaekers. Messias ended the season with 6 goals and 3 assists in 32 appearances.

The Rossoneri are pleased with his performances and have decided to sign Messias permanently. Di Marzio reports that AC Milan have received a small discount from Crotone and Junior Messias will cost around €7 million. But what impact will have the purchase of Messias on Saelemaekers and AC Milan’s mercato plans?

The Rossoneri will bring in another right winger this summer. Many names have been linked to the Rossoneri like Noa Lang, Domenico Berardi and Marco Asensio. The Netherlands international seems closer to a potential transfer. Regardless of the name a new right winger will surely arrive but another one will leave.

Messias’ permanence forces Alexis Saelemaekers out. The 22-year-old Belgium international has been a reliable player that balances the game but he can’t provide the necessary number of goals requested from a winger. Saelemaekers is wanted in Germany with Wolfsburg very interested in his services. AC Milan have set a €20 million price tag.
